Last week one of the homeschool moms arranged a homeschool field trip to the Mid Hudson Discovery Museum.

It was a great experience. It reminded me of a smaller scale CMOM that’s located in the city. A stroller may be too excessive in a small space, bring a carrier if you have smaller children.

We split the kids into 2 groups: younger and older. They were separated for the in house planetarium purposes. I went with the younger group since my son is 6 & daughter is 1. During our turn in the inflatable planetarium, we watched a 30 minute video on stars that featured Big Bird and Elmo. The most interesting thing during the video was hearing the lullaby “Twinkle Little Star” in Chinese.

After the video, we explored the rest of downstairs and then headed upstairs. Upstairs is full of cool science themed projects that allow the kids to explore.

Very cool museum that I’ll recommend to any homeschool coop or individual family.

We drove over an hour to visit this “museum” excited to see all the wonderful exhibits a children’s museum should have, but it was a complete waste of time. They had a few items to play with, but nothing impressive. The aprons and costumes (chef, firefighter) were dirty and smelled bad, clearly showing they hadn’t been washed or sanitized in a while. The membership options were overpriced, and looking at the prices, this place isn’t worth it. At $15 per child and for adults, many of the exhibits were broken or not working, and the overall space was old and unclean.

One thing that caught my attention was the display of prominent people on the wall leading upstairs. They had “Bad Bunny” featured, which really stood out to me. It’s disappointing that they’d choose to highlight someone like him as a representative of Latinos, especially given his controversial lyrics that disrespect women and lack of moral integrity. There are so many other Latin figures, like Roberto Clemente—who not only was a great baseball player but also gave his life in a humanitarian effort bringing aid to Nicaragua—who truly deserve recognition, or Gabriel Garcia Marquez ( Novel of literature) for example!

I would not recommend this place to anyone. It was incredibly disappointing.

Great children's museum. The first floor is more younger kid oriented, and the second floor has a bunch of interactive STEM exhibits. Nice place!

So cute, we went an hour and a half before closing but we could have stayed much longer. Such a great place. Our kids ranged from 2-6 and my 6 year old had just as much fun.
He loved the suction tubes in the cafeteria looking area, and the upstairs magnetic things. Super great for younger kids with the imagination area - groceries, baking, firehouse station.

Great 2-story kids museum. First floor is for younger and second floor is great for STEM play and fun. Vending machines with snacks and drinks. Great souvenir shop. Very nice staff. Combine it with a water play park in the town and the river walk. Wonderful day getaway from the city

Great place to take your kids. We took our 2 year old and she was entertained and engaged for over 2 hours. Lots of discovery and educational exhibits.

My kids love to exaggerate but they did say BETTER THAN BOUNCE?! I definitely enjoyed watching them have a great time and they did get to jump up and down a lot 🤣

Great museum for kids of all ages! Wide variety of play for infant, toddler and young children. Even fun for adults! Definitely worth the trip.
